The Afterlife [not for the squeamish]

This is for those of you intrigued by the afterlife, not the imaginary kind, but the real life that one’s corpse gives to the little ecosystem that develops on the flesh and the succession of arthropods that waste not when the resources are available.

Formerly a California happy cow.

I found this fairly recently dead cow and she was teaming with life. Buckets of maggots and swarms of adult flies, rove beetles, dermestid beetles, silphid beetles, wasp, etc.

So fascinating that I thought it worth a little video. It’s taken with a little hand-held camera so low resolution. Keep the viewing window small.
